More than 100 Palestinian university students staged a sit-in protest Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, inside the Damascus University to denounce the mounting Israeli violent acts against the Palestinian people and the recent U.S. veto on a U.N. Security Council's draft resolution on the Beit Hanoun offensive last week that resulted in the killing of more than 20 Palestinians and the wounding of tens others. The protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners, some of them read: 'the U.S. veto and the Arab silence are equal to the Zionist interest.' 'The Arab unity on the basis of resistance would remain the safety valve to our spilled blood.'(AP Photo Bassem Tellawi).
